MY STORY
SCOTT TRAVERS
I have turned my passion for dogs into my career. I started as a dog walker and then went on to study hands-on cases and theory in the field of dog training and dog psychology. I spent years gaining practical experience, never feeling like there wasn't more to learn. To complement my practical training, I volunteered at shelters and got certified in dog first aid and CPR . I began as a partner in a successful dog training company, putting my knowledge into practice helping clients with all issues from puppy training to very complex anxiety and aggression cases and everything in between. Eventually, I decided it was time to go off on my own and start my own business, Solutions Top Dog Training, with the goal of continuing to help dogs with any sort of issues their owners may come across. I truly believe in my slogan. With the right training, "There are no problems. Only solutions".

BEHAVIOR TRAINING
If your dog needs help with a specific physical or behavioural issue, like anxiety or aggression, Behaviour Training with Solutions Top Dog Training may be a great option for you. As with all my training programs, the sessions are done in your home where the issues actually take place. I work with you and your dog and provide personalized plans to fit your pet’s needs and your lifestyle.
CUSTOMIZED TRAINING
All of Solutions Top Dog Training programs are offered privately and designed to meet individual needs. PUPPY TRAINING
Puppy training involves an intimate understanding of your dog’s natural and individual history. Your pup has plenty of potential to learn and understand commands, and my techniques will lay the foundation for you to build upon. I combine your needs with the natural attributes of your pet and help ensure your relationship gets off to a good start.
In-home dog grooming offers a convenient and personalized grooming experience your furry friend. With the comfort of your home, professional groom provide services such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming, tailored your dog's specific needs. This approach reduces stress for both pets and owners, ensuring a relaxed environment. Keep dog looking and feeling their best with the ease of in-home grooming services.
OBEDIENCE TRAINING
If your pet hasn’t quite mastered basic commands like sit, lay down and heel, or tends to bark or jump up on your guests, BASE 1 OBEDIENCE with Solutions Top Dog Training may be right for you. These sessions will focus on getting your pet to listen to basic commands with distractions, including staying and coming when you call – both behaviors that will help you keep your pet safe and you in control. Once your pup masters this program, consider ramping things up with my BASE 2 OBEDIENCE. This is a great program for owners who take their dogs on outdoor adventures, or frequent busy streets, parks and places. We will work to make sure your pet listens no matter the distraction and can do so off leash and from a distance.

I have had dogs all my life and trained them myself. This latest addition to our family was not being co-operative on her walks and would basically wrench my arms nearly out of their sockets. Scott came to our rescue! After one lesson, Bailey was co-operating and the master caught on as well (tee hee hee) All we both needed was the technique, and Scott most certainly has the patience, techniques and the love for animals. Story time. Scott is amazing. Two weeks ago I was driving to angelwood park. At the stop light Kobe opened his window and broke through his seat belt and jumped out of the car. He ran towards the train tracks. Why do I tell you this story?? When I got out of the car and yelled once and firmly Kobe touch he ran right back to me and sat at my feet. That’s all bc of you. Scott is a top quality dog trainer. He's extremely patient, knowledgeable and passionate about dogs. We hired him to improve the obedience with our Golden Doodle and he didn't disappoint. We just finished our first series of dog training sessions with Scott and we have one regret - not having heard about him sooner. We did public classes, but still had some areas where we felt we could improve. Scott’s techniques were different and they worked!!! In addition, we focused entirely on what we felt needed correcting, with Scott’s input of course. Kudos to him and his love of dogs and getting them to enjoy being trained. Down to earth and legitimately knows what he is doing! Scott has been such an amazing instructor. We decided on waiting until Teddy, our 50 lbs goldendoodle, was 50 lbs ..and well 10 months before getting him trained. Did I mention we are first time pet owner? Scott has been soooo fantastic. Within our time period Scott has managed to give us the tools to help Teddy be a better host, walk better on a leash, gave us confidence to go without leash at dog parks and recall!!! I gave him a call after a few people recommended him for my 6 years old shih tzu who has never been trained before and let me tell you, best decision I ever made. I was almost loosing hope about training my dog at this age because I thought it was too late but the results were absolutely amazing. He can now sit and stay while I go outside or when someone comes into the house (before he would run out the door really quickly or jump on the guests). He had no recall AT ALL before and today he listened to the “come” command even though he was distracted by a squirrel which was amazing. His leash pulling is almost fixed too and this was after a half an hour leash pulling session. For his age I was impressed that all of this was fixed in only 4 sessions in a span of 1 month and the price is the most affordable one comparing to the quotes of thousands of dollars that I got from other trainers. This post is also to say it is never too late to train your dog for basic commands that would make both your lives more peaceful. Scott met us at a dog park as our 4 month old puppy, Axe, was acting aggressive with other dogs. He was great at home & seemed easy to train- but because of the covid restrictions, he hadn't really interacted with anyone but us. We needed help to know what to do when we saw him act this way, what was normal behavior, what was not, etc. Scott gave us some very useful and smart tips (we were getting so much bad advice from others!). Axe was just scared and we needed to give him confidence. We have been bringing him to the park regularly since the training, using the methods Scott showed us, and he is now running around and playing with other dogs!! Scott is a brilliant trainer. He understands the nature/characteristics of your dog and plans the training accordingly as with dogs it cannot be text book training. Bailey does the sit and stay, recall, waits for her food, is able to tell when she needs to go out like a pro all with guidance, good training and consistency. I met him through a friend and found out he did dog training.. I owned a very agressive staffy who hated men and other dogs needless to say he was able to cuddle her with in hours ...about a year later he trained my pup lucky to perfection and till this day i used his methods with my dog hes patient and caring and understands what pups want us to know ! -Liliana P
